বায়োগ্রাফি: Walter John de la Mare OM CH is probably best known for his works for children, for his poem "The Listeners". he was a poet, short story writer, and novelist. He was also successful as a psychological horror story writer with works like "Seaton's Aunt" and "All Hallows". In 1921, he won the James Tait Black Memorial Prize for fiction for his novel Memoirs of a Midget won in 1947 and received the Carnegie Medal for British children's books for his post-war Collected Stories for Children. He went to St. Paul's Cathedral School. His parents were James Edward de la Mare, a principal at the Bank of England, and Lucy Sophia Browning. He had 6 siblings. He preferred to be known as Jack instead of Walter. He married Elfrida Ingpen in 1899 whom he met at the Esperanza Amateur Dramatics Club and fell in love. They had four children.
