বায়োগ্রাফি: William Hope Hodgson was a WWI martyr and English author. He was a prolific writer and created a large body of work, like essays, short fiction, and novels, and genres including horror, fantasy fiction, and science fiction. He utilized his time at sea to provide real detail to his short horror stories, many of which are set on the ocean, including his series of associated tales forming the "Sargasso Sea Stories". His novels, such as The House on the Borderland (1908) and The Night Land (1912), feature more cosmic themes. Early in his writing career, Hodgson devoted effort to poetry, although few of his poems were published during his lifetime. He also attracted some notice as a photographer and achieved fame as a bodybuilder. He died in World War I at age 40. He was born to Reverend Samuel Hodgson and Lissie Sarah Brown in Essex. He was the 2nd of 12 children, 3 died in infancy. The death of a child is a theme in several of his works. He married Betty Farnworth in 1912.
