বায়োগ্রাফি: 1886 Frances Eliza Hodgson Burnett published Little Lord Fauntleroy that made her a popular writer of children's fiction, although her romantic adult novels written in the 1890's were also popular. She wrote and helped to produce stage versions of Little Lord Fauntleroy and A Little Princess. Born in Cheetham, Manchester, she was the third of five children of Edwin Hodgson, an ironmonger from Doncaster in Yorkshire, and his wife Eliza Boond, from a well-to-do Manchester family. When his father passed away in 1952, her family suffered economic distress and they moved to the United States in 1865 and in 1870 they lost their mother. She married doctor Swan Burnett in 1872. In 1890 her elder son Lionel died of tuberculosis and she suffered from depression for long. She bought a home in England in the 1890's where she wrote her famous novel the secret Garden. In 1936 a statue in her honor in Central Park featuring her two famous Mary and Dickon from Secret Garden.
